How to cook sweet potatoes? Lots of ideas to try

Sweet potatoes, also known as 'American potatoes' are a great ingredient for many recipes.

Sweet potatoes: how to use them in cooking?

1. Mashed sweet potatoes
An excellent side dish to accompany meat. Simply boil peeled and diced sweet potatoes in lightly salted water until soft. Mash them with a fork or a vegetable mash, then add butter, milk and salt to taste.

2. Roasted sweet potatoes with rosemary
Cut sweet potatoes into cubes, season with olive oil, salt and pepper, add fresh rosemary and bake at 220°C for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown and soft.

3. Sweet potato chips
Cut the sweet potatoes into thin slices, fry them in hot oil until golden and crispy, then salt to taste.

4. Creamy sweet potato soup
Fry a diced onion with olive oil, salt and dried rosemary. Add diced sweet potatoes and a carrot. Boil the vegetables in vegetable stock until soft, then blend until smooth and creamy. Add salt and black pepper to taste. If desired, you can also add a little sour cream before serving.

5. Baked vegetables with chickpea 'hummus.
Cut up sweet potatoes, regular potatoes and broccoli. Season with salt, pepper and olive oil and bake in the oven until soft on the inside but crispy on the outside. Serve with chickpea hummus.

6. Sweet Potato Fries
Cut the sweet potatoes into strips, season with salt and olive oil and cook them in a hot air fryer or in the oven. Once ready, accompany them with hummus or tzatziki sauce.

7. Stuffed baked sweet potatoes
Cut the sweet potatoes in half, then bake them until soft. Let them cool slightly, then remove some of the flesh from the potatoes and fill them with grated cheese, chopped crispy bacon, green onion and sour cream.

8. Sweet potato salad
Bake the diced sweet potatoes in the oven and allow them to cool. Mix with salad leaves, red onions, tomatoes, roasted pecans, and a dressing of balsamic vinegar and Dijon mustard.
